Research on composite double-curved element with big grid and high precision

  • High precision calculation of double-curved composite was achieved by using programming 4-node and 8-node elements, which was an extension of 4-node Timoshenko laminate beam and 8-node shell element theory. It is found that the use of 8-node element achieves a more accurate result. However, the use of 4-node element is more effective since it can save much computation time, which is more applicable for the engineering computation. The dimension of the mesh of stiffener has little influence on the precision of the calculation result. The present work can be applied in designing and analyzing composite with double-curved structure.
