Enhanced dielectric properties of BaTiO3/PVDF composites and its film capacitor application

  • BaTiO3/PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) composites films, with PVDF as matrix, nanometer sized BaTiO3 as fillers, were prepared by a simple mix and casting process. The microstructure of the BaTiO3/PVDF composites were examined by SEM, and the dielectric properties of samples were discussed. BaTiO3/PVDF composites (film size: 70 mm×30 mm×25 μm, electrode area: 600 mm2) were applied in the film capacitors, and the key parameters of capacitor including capacitance, loss, thermal stability and breakdown voltage were tested. The results show that the BaTiO3/PVDF film capacitors have the good thermal stability below 100 ℃ and high breakdown voltage(1.3 kV), while the capacitance can reach 3.34 nF and the loss is below 0.03.
